The Nation Journalism Foundation is committed to using the power of the media to expose gender discrimination and drive systemic change. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality), we highlight issues such as gender-based violence, workplace inequality, and harmful cultural norms through investigative journalism and advocacy.
During the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we organized a panel discussion titled Breaking the Media Silence Around Gender-Based Violence, emphasizing the media’s critical role in fostering change. Panelists called for survivor-centered reporting, in-depth investigations into systemic issues, and media-driven public awareness campaigns to challenge victim-blaming narratives and push for policy reforms.
Our work speaks to the urgent need to end all forms of discrimination against women and girls (SDG Target 5.1) and eliminate violence against women in all spheres, including trafficking, sexual exploitation, and other forms of abuse (SDG Target 5.2). By shedding light on these issues, we aim to foster long-term cultural change, strengthen legal protections, and contribute to a society where women and girls can live free from violence and discrimination.
